• September 2024 : News Letter
  Spectacular September is here and we are anxious to begin with our REVIVE weekend renewal time with Dr. Scott Foshie. Dr. Foshie (Scott) is one of our own. He grew up, was baptized and called into the ministry at Towering Oaks. Over the last 24 years he has led in four different congregations, serving three as an Associate Pastor and one as Lead Pastor. For the last few years, he has worked with the Illinois Baptist Association as Church Health Team Leader.
• August 2024 : News Letter
  August is upon us, and it promises to be an Awesome August. Before I get to that, let me say “thank you” for stepping up and making July such a great ministry month. Not only VBS, but the Miles for Smiles and Providential medical services this last week. In a recent sermon I asked, “would you like to do something special for Jesus?” when a child shouted out “YES!” You did something special for Jesus as you showed His love this last month in these events.
• July 2024 : News Letter
  July is one of the most important months of the year at Towering Oaks, and this year is no exception. While some take vacation away, other take vacation time from work and stay in the area so that they can be a part of the biggest community outreach we have each year: Vacation Bible School. God has blessed our church with a great outreach opportunity where we consistently reach over 300 children. That means that every person who is affiliated with our ministry is needed to not just cover the event, but to make it the exceptional time it is. There is a place for everyone. If you need help knowing where you can serve, just ask and we can help direct you. We need people to pray, we need teachers, assistants, folks to bring snacks for the teacher’s room, etc.
• June 2024 : News Letter
  Summer is a busy time around Towering Oaks, and this year will be no exception. When you receive this letter, we will have kicked off the summer with Children’s Camp at the Oaks. Over 50 will have joined the camp time for learning and fun. Every year we have children who profess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. What a great way to begin the summer.
• May 2024 : News Letter
  This month we will celebrate our 2nd High School Graduation (Sunday, May 5); Mother’s Day (Sunday, May 12); Summer Kids Camp (Wednesday-Friday, May 22-24); Church-wide Memorial Picnic (Sunday, May 26) followed by special worship services on Sunday Nights in June. We will return to the worship style of earlier decades using hymnals, having special music, and on June 30 a good old fashioned hymn sing. We will celebrate Diane Morrison that evening and her 24 years of dedication to excellence as office assistant—many of those years spent as the voice and face of TOBC and filling the role of assistant to the Senior Pastor. I appreciate Diane and love her and Oscar and all the ways they impact kingdom work.
• April 2024 : News Letter
  Spring is the season for new beginnings and growth. Towering Oaks is experiencing both. I have been so excited that the last few Sundays we have had from the 25-35 preschoolers during our worship hour. I am hoping and praying that those not involved in the Bible Study hour will begin to attend. We would love to have more time to pour into these little hearts the love of Jesus. We have the best preschool and children’s workers.
• March 2024 : News Letter
  Like the winds of March, our ministry is accelerating this month. Easter is the last Sunday of March (31st) and special events will occur on Palm Sunday (24th). Easter Sunday we will observe the Lord’s Supper and have baptism.
• February 2024 : News Letter
  Your church ministry staff met to set goals for what we felt God would have as our focus this year. Our focus will be on how to equip us all in the area of prayer, Bible study, and witnessing.
• January 2024 : News Letter
  Take time to remember God’s accomplishments in 2023. At Towering Oaks we had such a wonderful Bible School, the Church debt was retired (we will celebrate January 21, 2024), we purchased two new 15 passenger vans for use by our ministry groups, and there were many baptisms and new additions to the fellowship.
