OUR RESPONSE TO COVID-19

In response to concerns surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19), a team has been assembled to continually and prayerfully evaluate the situation. As always, we are dedicated to doing everything we can to provide a safe environment for our church family.

Please use wisdom and stay home if:

  • You are running a fever of 100 or higher, we ask that you do not attend church services or activities until you are symptom-free and fever-free for at least 24-48 hours without medication.
  • If you have high-risk health conditions, use discretion in attending worship services and gatherings.
  • We have masks available for those who want one.
  • We have hand sanitizer set out for use.
  • If you are unable to attend, remember that you can listen to sermons online at here or tune into our live stream on our Facebook page
  • You can also safely and securely give your tithes and offerings online so that the Church’s mission and ministries are able to continue uninterrupted.
  • We will continue to monitor and provide updates as they occur.

Lastly, please use this unique situation to draw closer to our Sovereign Lord, pray for all who are experiencing sickness and loss, and show the love of Christ every opportunity provided.

COVID-19 Updates

July 16 Update

With the increase of COVID-19 cases in Greene County, Mayor Kevin Morrison has mandated masks be worn in public.  He cited a tripling of hospitalization cases in our area just this week.  At Towering Oaks, we have made every attempt to provide physical distancing and dedicated areas for those who understand the spiritual health needs of corporate worship and desire to gather.

While the Mayor noted the mandate is not enforceable, we strongly urge those who are of the vulnerable population (elderly, immune compromised, etc.) to please join us for worship online at 10:30.

It is our best understanding that there is at least some benefit of precautions that reduce the sharing of the virus by a person who may not even know he/she has it, if you attend in person we strongly urge:

  • That you make sure you are not running a fever. If you have any doubts, we will have thermometers that do not require physical touching. Should you or anyone in your family run a temperature of 100.0 or higher, we ask that you stay home.
  • That you wear a mask.  If you do not have one,we will have masks available for you.  We will provide a section of the worship center for those not wearing masks.  The worship team and pastor will not wear masks while singing or speaking.
  • That you maintain physical distancing while at church.
  • That you be supportive, realizing that each person has their own views of the efficacy of the precautions.  Please don’t speak down to others for their views, or question their choices.  You may not know all of the circumstances.   They have heard the opinions already and have made up their minds. (2 Thess 5.14 says, “be patient with all men”).  If you feel threatened by those wearing or not wearing masks, please join us in worship online.
  • Rather, speak cheerfully and with encouraging words to others (Ephesians 4.29).
  • Pray fora solution that we might be able to soon return to warm handshakes and hugs.

We want to be good stewards and as responsible as we can be.

We pray for each of you. In the midst of difficulty, God is still doing great things!

During this time, we have great opportunity to show grace and unconditional love as a testimony to our community and world of the magnificent love of Jesus Christ! Please focus on what binds us and not our difference in opinion.

March 17 Update

We hope you are having a blessed day and experiencing the peace that comes from knowing Christ as we go through challenging times.  It is our desire to make wise decisions regarding the health of our church family and our community.  We also want to honor the requests of those in authority.  For these reasons we have decided to cancel Wednesday night activities, Sunday evening activities, small group Bible studies and other small group activities until April 6th.  We will still have worship at 10:30 am on Sunday mornings for those who choose to come.  If you come we ask that you sit in family groups and practice social distancing.  Preschool classes will not be available.  If you choose to remain at home, we invite you to worship with us through our live stream.  We will be updating you on our plans to provide Bible studies as soon as possible.

Because of the layout of our church offices we are able to practice social distancing as a staff.  We will be in our offices, but we suggest that you call us at 638-7464 if you have a need.  Our theme for the year is “Relationships Matter”, and you do matter to us.  If we don’t see you we want you to know that you are always in our hearts and that we are a phone call away.  If you have any questions or concerns please let us know.
